About

A few fun facts about me:
Because I don’t really like giving self-summaries, I’m just going to give you a list of highlights that are hopefully interesting…
1) I’m an introvert with an awesome family and would be more than happy to stay home with said family and my books 90% of the time.
2) I was born and raised in New England. I don’t like the winter and periodically talk about moving to a different state but don’t know if I’ll ever be in a position (or have the guts) to do it. I once read a book about a guy who moved to a small town in the middle of nowhere and built himself a multi-story treehouse and that sounded incredibly appealing… until I think of having to drive 20+ minutes to a grocery store and then it doesn’t sound so great anymore.
3) As a kid I decided school was not for me and proceeded to spend the next three years convincing my parents to homeschool me. This kind of led to a life of thinking outside the box and not just following the crowd. Apparently I’m a really stubborn person, but I don’t see it.
4) I’ve been vegan since I was fifteen, much to my grandmother’s dismay. I’ve never once regretted it or debated going back.
5) The first story I remember falling in love with was Peter Pan. It will always have a special place in my heart and has made an impressive number of cameos in the books I’ve written along with a few of the other books that shaped my childhood.
6) When I’m not writing, I spend way too much time reading other people’s books, watching occasional movies, spending time with my family, going to karate classes, hanging out with friends, and listening to my current music obsession on repeat.
How I started writing:
TA Books have always been a huge focus in my life. My mom says when I was a little kid, if I brought her a book, she would try to make time to read to me. This started a love for books. I owe everything to parents who’ve always supported my dreams and acted as my personal audiobooks from the time I was born. They still do occasionally, though I have discovered you can buy narrated books that play whenever you want and don’t fall asleep on you. Also there are some books you just don’t want narrated by your parents no matter how close you are.
TA Throughout my childhood, I created stories in my head all the time, but I never wrote down a word. The closest I came was a superhero story I verbally told to my younger brother and a couple friends so we could act it out.
TA When I was fourteen, my homeschooling mom told me I had to start writing. She said it could be anything, but I had to write something. I started work on my first novella and fell in love with stories in a totally new way. From that moment I knew I wanted to be an author. Only I had a teeny problem with not knowing how to actually finish the drafts I started.
TA After I graduated high school, a coworker at my job at the time asked to read my book. Said book was a grand total of two and a half chapters long, but I gave him what I had and continued to give him chapters as I finished them. It was the push I needed to finish my first novel and then my first trilogy (not published).
What I write:
TA I write a range of New Adult and Adult Romance from Paranormal to Contemporary, and plan on maybe throwing some Fantasy in there too. I love writing sexy protective heroes and sassy fearless heroines who make them work for it.
TA My love for romance started when I was fifteen and read Twilight (after my mom had been telling me I would like it for years and I’d stubbornly refused to read it). It was love at first… book? There was no going back after that—if there isn’t kissing, it’s not my kind of book
TA I also write Young Adult under the pen name Kira Scott.
